Selenium Toner
densify shadows and change print tonality
Selenium toning is used for several reasons: it improves the shelf life of fibre based prints, densifies dark zones and can affect tonality. Used in low dilution with warm toned photographic papers from the BERGGER Variable range, Selenium will give a slightly purplish brown color. The higher the temperature of the toning bath, the more pronounced the effects. In the example shown here, toning was achieved with a solution of BERGGER Selenium diluted 1+4 at 20°C for 10 minutes.
